Hey Jess. Deficits in social skills are the core underlying feature of autistic disorder, Aspergers disorder, and others. Socialization deficits seem to be a major problem for such children, regardless of their intelligence in other areas or their language ability for individuals with ASD. In general, their social skill deficits do not get better with age and some scientists believe that this may actually get worse as children approach adolescence because the social world becomes more complex and the child becomes more aware of their social disability – causing even bigger issues.
