I raised some baby crows of the New Caledonian sort, to find out how they learned to use tools. What happened to them was rather strange. When I left Oxford University, my Professor arranged to have them sent to Germany, where they lived in a castle looked after by a Bavarian princess, who was also a bird researcher, and already had tame jackdaws and rooks. I went to see them once, and she was talking to them like she was a bird herself. Sadly I think they are all dead now – this was a while back.
