• Question: Do past relationships correlate to whether you're mean or kind?

      Yes for sure. Most obviously in the parent child relationship, which has strong influences on the rest of your life. For example, children who are not treated well by their parents learn that people generally are not to be trusted. If you don’t trust people, you will often think they are out to take advantage of you, and sadly this leads to a situation where you will become meaner yourself as a person, because that’s what you expect from other people. Other studies show that parents who set a good example and are sensitive to their children’s needs do have children who are kinder.
