Hi Lauryn 🙂 Yes, it might not seem like there would be many similarities, but it’s amazing how psychology helped me! As you can imagine, it’s very important to be able to understand people when you are doing makeup – and be able to get on with people! Sometimes it can be a very stressful environment (or sometimes you might be dealing with quite big egos! 😉 ) and then it would be very important to know how to control a situation, and keep people calm! I also worked with some people too who had never had makeup on before and they were quite scared of it, so it was important to reassure them, and understand their concerns. I sometimes had to work with clients too who were very insecure and very self-conscious about how they looked so they really didn’t like themselves, and sometimes didn’t even like being close to people and letting them touch them. For them, it was important to gain their trust and reassure them, and sometimes after they had their makeup done they were so happy they were in tears! I find it sad that society judges people so much on looks but I have to say it was lovely being able to make people feel beautiful and make them feel happy about themselves! It was amazing how much a bit of makeup could improve their self-esteem and make them feel more confident and happy 🙂
